The Duke of York provides an amazing location with harbour views, sometimes enjoyed from private seating outside rooms 1 & 2. Guests appreciate the spacious rooms and well-equipped bathrooms, often mentioning the availability of a coffee machine, ironing board, and hairdryer; also, the beds are comfortable. Breakfast is often included and considered very nice and filling, however, some guests have experienced issues with certain food items at the pub. Its location is a short walk from the abbey and right next to the 199 steps.

central stay

central locationclean roomimmaculate bathroomextractor noise
the location is central, with the beach nearby. The room felt modern and clean. I found the bathroom very large and immaculate. The domestic assistants have done a great job with keeping the place pristine.
i noticed no toilet brush in the room. liquid from the toilet was running straight out on the floor for two nights. the extractor fan made a loud noise.

the location offered convenient access to local attractions. i also found the included breakfast quite satisfying, with a nice variety of options..
unfortunately, i noticed the room lacked proper soundproofing. this resulted in significant noise disturbance from nearby street activity early in the morning. also, the room size felt somewhat small.

Mixed Experience, Some Issues Encountered

lovely locationdistant parkinglack of soundproofing
The location was acceptable, nestled among the shops.
The parking was much further away than I expected. It definitely was not a 3-minute walk as advertised. the room was noisy. There was no soundproofing to the floor above, and I heard every footstep. This made it hard to sleep.
